Frequently asked questions

The time is synchronised with the site's server, so it is right even if your device clock is wrong. The time zone is read from your device settings. Synchronisation sends only a few small requests to the server and no personal data.

No. Since 2016 Türkiye has used UTC+3 all year round, and clocks are not moved forward or back. Many European countries still change their clocks, so their time difference from Türkiye can shift by one hour during the year.

Under ISO 8601, weeks start on Monday and week 1 is the week that contains the first Thursday of the year. For this reason the first and last days of a year can belong to a week of the neighbouring year.

Each city's current UTC offset comes from your browser's time zone database (IANA), and daylight saving changes are applied automatically. "Ahead of you" and "behind you" always refer to your own time zone.

Time is measured with the browser's high-resolution clock and shown to a hundredth of a second. Changing your device clock does not affect it.

No. The start time of a running stopwatch is stored on this device, so reloading or reopening the page shows the time where it left off. The Reset button clears it.

A lap is a split time taken without stopping the stopwatch. Press the Lap button or the L key while it runs; each lap time and the total are listed, with the best and slowest laps marked.

The live counter above shows today's week number. It follows ISO 8601: weeks start on Monday and week 1 is the week that contains the first Thursday of the year.

An ISO year has 52 or 53 weeks. It has 53 weeks when 1 January is a Thursday (or a Wednesday in a leap year). 2026 has 53 weeks.

Under ISO rules, week 1 contains the first Thursday. If 1 January is a Friday, Saturday or Sunday it belongs to week 52 or 53 of the previous year, and some days at the end of December can belong to week 1 of the next year.

Week numbers are not much used in daily life, but ISO week numbers are common in business planning, logistics, education and software. The tool on this page shows the week number of any date you pick.

Today's weekday is written in the large date above and in the Weekday box. The date is calculated from the server clock and your time zone.

In Türkiye the numeric date is written day.month.year, for example 09.10.2026. The international ISO 8601 format goes year-month-day: 2026-10-09.

The position of the sun during the day is calculated from your latitude and longitude. Fajr starts when the sun is 18° below the horizon, isha at 17° below, and asr when an object's shadow equals its length. The calculation runs in your browser.

No. If you allow location access, the coordinates are used only on your device to calculate the times; they are not sent to the server or included in statistics events. Your last choice is kept only in your browser's local storage.

The calculation is tuned to match Diyanet's times and differs by at most 1 minute at province centres. Official times are still the ones published by the Turkish Presidency of Religious Affairs.

Iftar is at the maghrib (evening adhan) time, and suhoor runs until fajr (imsak). In Ramadan you can check both in the monthly table.

Yes. The Use my location button calculates the times anywhere in the world. At very high latitudes the fajr or isha angle may not occur; then an approximate time is given with the one-seventh-of-the-night rule.

Astronomically, spring starts around 20 March, summer on 21 June, autumn on 22-23 September and winter on 21 December. The exact moments shift by a few hours from year to year; see the table above.

Astronomical seasons are based on the equinoxes and solstices, while meteorological seasons use whole calendar months (March to May is spring, for example). The latter makes climate records easier to keep.

Day length grows from the winter solstice to the summer solstice and then shortens again. The change is fastest around the equinoxes, by a few minutes a day, and almost still at the solstices.

The phase comes from the time since the previous new moon as a fraction of the lunar cycle (about 29.5 days). New moon and full moon times are calculated with astronomical formulas to within a few minutes.

The data is downloaded straight to your browser from Open-Meteo, an open weather service. It is a model forecast and can differ from local measurements by a few degrees and hours.

If you choose a location, approximate coordinates (to about 1 km) are sent to Open-Meteo only to fetch the weather. The Saat Tarih server does not see or store them.

The feels-like temperature is how warm it seems to the body once wind and humidity are taken into account; it can differ from the real air temperature.
